Liz Fahey, author of The NOLO: Danger in the Hills (Amazon), recently sat down with book marketing expert Brian Feinblum for an intimate and inspiring interview. During their conversation, Liz shared how her late father, fondly known as “Uncle Jerry,” inspired the beloved NOLO universe.

"My father loved spinning stories that brought laughter and wonder to our lives," Liz revealed. The NOLO, a towering, three-legged, furry creature, was a favorite subject of her dad’s tales, and he even drafted the first version of Danger in the Hills before he passed away. Honoring his legacy, Liz took that draft and transformed it into a magical story for young readers.

The interview also shed light on Liz’s meticulous creative process. From collaborating with an illustrator, Felipe Sato, for over five months to design 35+ stunning illustrations, she worked to ensure every detail of the NOLO species captured her father’s vision while sparking children’s imaginations.

When asked what she hopes readers gain from the book, Liz said, “I hope children’s imaginations fire up! My own kids loved the NOLO stories, and I’ve already seen young readers creating their own tales inspired by the NOLO.”

The conversation also touched on Liz’s upcoming book, The NOLO: Flood in the Desert, and her perspective on the evolving book industry, including the role of AI in enhancing creativity.
