Celebrating a Big Win! "Danger in the Hills" Named Distinguished Favorite by the Independent Press Awards

thelitretreat

It’s official—Danger in the Hills: A NOLO Story has been recognized as a Distinguished Favorite by the prestigious Independent Press Awards!

This is a huge milestone for the first book in the NOLO series. The Independent Book Awards shines a spotlight on books that stand out in creativity, originality, and impact.  As an author, seeing Danger in the Hills celebrated in this way is both humbling and thrilling.

For those who are new to the world of the NOLO, this story follows a group of kids lost in the wilderness who must overcome danger, uncertainty, and their own fears. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they encounter Jake, a Mountain NOLO—80 feet tall, 40 tons of fur, and a creature of legend. Is he a friend or a foe? You’ll have to read to find out!

The story was born from the imaginative tales of my father, affectionately known as “Uncle Jerry,” whose gift for weaving captivating adventures influenced me deeply. To see his legacy celebrated through this award-winning book feels like a full-circle moment.

I’d like to take a moment to thank the Independent Press Awards for this honor and to express my gratitude to the readers, educators, and families who have embraced Danger in the Hills and the world of the NOLO. Your support means everything.

If you haven’t yet explored the adventure and magic of the NOLO, you can find Danger in the Hills: A NOLO Story at all major retailers (Amazon) or for FREE on Kindle Unlimited or at your local Library!

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Here’s to more adventures with the NOLO and more stories that inspire and delight!
